Recruitment agency Mass Power Services celebrated their 6th Annual HR event by empowering their clients with knowledge. A workshop was specially designed for human resource (HR) professionals to gain insight and understanding of the background of some of the labour policies as well as the implications of forthcoming changes that the Ministry of Manpower will be looking at to give more protection to Professionals, Managers & Executives (PME’s).
“The workshop is our way to thank our loyal customers for their support during both the good and difficult economic times,” expressed Mr Derek Yue, Managing Director of Mass Power Services. “It is the strong relationship and bonding we have with our customers that has encouraged us to deliver professional service, everytime. Every year, we look at how we can give back to our clients in meaningful ways.”
Mr Chia Boon Cher, a veteran in the HR scene, presented a true dose of reality on the history and evolution of HR in Singapore. His anecdotes kept the audience amused and attentive. Mr Chia also addressed the re-employment of employees of age 62 and above.
“Individuals aged 62 and above are an additional resource that can be capitalised on,” said Mr Yue. “Understanding the advantages and disadvantages is essential for effective HR practices in the near future”.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, all participating companies at the workshop will receive the Practical Guide to The Employment Act for Fair Employment Practices, co-authored by Mr Chia Boon Cher and Mr Edmund Baker. The publication will also feature the Employment Act ad related Laws. It is slated for release in June 2010.
